In detail

I got bored on Thursday afternoon, and started taking these.

Denim, denim everywhere! The left arm of the rocking chair in the balcony.Close-up on a chair cushion.

Most were taken during a power outage. I was angry about it, because I had some work to deliver for the night class.

Dusty leaf.Weaving.Skin.

So, I guess I used photography to calm myself down.

River stone.Leaf close-up.Rusty painted metal.

Unfortunately for me, the power came back just as I was leaving, and I only had ten minutes to get to class.

Rocking chair back cushion. My shorts!Rocking chair weave.

I sent a text message to the one other person in my team, hoping that she’d deliver the work instead.

Turtle shell. From a live turtle, in case you're wondering.Plant (moss? weed?) close-up.Tree bark.Broom bristles.

The message failed to arrive, but we managed to get most of the work done before class began. Happy ending, sort of.

No more photos for now.

Love the pictures. It’s like making simple things look less simple and beautiful. I mean, looking at a broom brush or pillow cushion looks bland a normal but up close the colors and detail makes them stand out. I notice you’re really good at taking pictures. Is this a requirement for graphic designers or is this just a separate hobby-like activity that you have?

Thanks! I’m glad you like them. These were just in the apartment my family and I live in. There are lots of other small details I can photograph if I go outside … I’m just lazy.
As for me and photography, I think everyone in the art department at college has to take the same three photography classes (not completely sure about the interior design students, there’s only a handful of those). I didn’t know how to use a camera until that first class (I thought it was pressing the shutter and that was it), and I didn’t have a digital camera until the second one. Because I have it, and I know how to use it, I take as many pictures as I can.

I never thought such(useless) things brings out creative characters.
And BTW looks like there’s frequent power outage around ya :D
    Lovely, I luff it

These are great images of textures that could be used in website and blog deign. I like them. :)

OOPS! Typo above: “deign” should have been “design”.

Dam Good Eye! I am just such a sucker for a good macro. HEY, I need help so bad with the magazine project. I am running around like a chicken with his head cut off because I am doing way to many things at once. I am going to start working seriously on it soon and I will need as much help from as many people as possible to get this crazy time vampire of a magazine off the ground! If you have any suggestions or ideas I would love to hear them!

Oh, I think I am going to use indetail02.jpg as the photo of the day on my blog. If its all good with you? I will credit you with a link to your blog!

dosox: You have no idea! It’s like we’re paying for the power outages.

timethief: I agree. They would make great textures, and not just for web design.

shuttercraft: Sure, go right ahead, you have my permission. And, hey, I could use the exposure –get it? Exposure! Okay, bad joke–. As for the magazine, I don’t know what to suggest! I know little about photography that most people with a camera don’t already know.

Thank you all for your comments! I’ll have to do another one of these photo posts soon …

No new posts? You must be doing school 24/7 :(

My blog is starting to come together, anything more I can do to make it better?

  14. 19 Feb, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Sorry about that. The phone lines in the area decided to die, and the Internet went along with it. I’ve got some serious catching up to do.

Hey! I want you to be my first guest poster! Please! I am going to have one guest poster a week, I want you to be the first one! I would love it if you could give your opinion on photography or art in general! If you do not have the time, (because of school) then I understand.

Seriously, your blog is really a photo blog. :)

I am glad to have clicked on your profile. The images are of great interest.

Your approach is adopting a limited crop into a portion of a view. A narrow depth of field to direct the attention to the desirable focused area.

    Great emphasis on texture too.

You use a black background to “pop” images in the blog. Artistic in deed.

Hahah, thanks! I like macro photography, particularly because that’s what my (compact) camera does best.

As for the background … it keeps the screen glare away!
